Education and Outreach
WildlifeDirect's education program is distinctively impactful in fostering agency among children regarding environmental matters and their future aspirations. At its core, the program doesn't just impart knowledge; it actively engages young minds in critical thinking and decision-making processes about ecological issues. This hands-on approach empowers students not only to understand but also actively contribute to environmental conservation.
We engage schools in meaningful activities like citizen science, photography, habitat protection and ecosystem restoration. Our model is to provide training and complemmaterials to teachers so that they can empower children to make a difference in their own communities, addressing conservation and human-wildlife conflict.
WLD Studios
WildlifeDirect is the only African conservation organization that is developing wildlife documentaries for local audiences. Our educational wildlife documentary series Wildlife Warriors reached 4 million viewers per week in Kenya during broadcast. Each episode features a Kenyan conservation hero and the species they are conserving. We also expanded to the rest of the continent as the series is now being broadcast in 26 countries reaching over 70 million Africans via Nigerian channel EbonyLife TV. The show shines a light on Africa’s own conservation heroes who are fighting grave battles, breaking new ground and risking everything to preserve what they hold most dear, the land of their ancestors and the animals they have lived closely with for generations.
